Brianna Chara's Diary

I wanted so badly to race to my spot.

I knew exactly where I was headed—and I never lost sight of it. But somehow, along the way, life happened. It happened quickly and abruptly…

in the most indecent way.

I had countless moments of feeling like a disappointment to myself and to you all. I introduced this new brilliant idea to the world—just for life to stomp all over it.

I was deeply afraid that people had lost interest in my book. “She’s taking too long” I kept replaying in my head. But then, something shifted. Everyone continued asking. Friends. Family. Beautiful faces on the internet. I realized the anticipation didn’t fade— it grew!

You still cared.

You have no idea how your interest kept me going. Saying thank you doesn’t feel big enough.

I didn’t know the longer route wasn’t a punishment. That it would give me more to say, more to feel, more to transform into. The route you start on may require several detours to your destination. Allow me to be your testament to keep going.

This poem came after a season of remembering just how powerful I am—and how deeply I refused to break. She is called ‘Insatiable Woman.’ And she took the long way home.

“Insatiable Woman”

You’ve arrived

Look up and glance

Because you craved change, you reinvented yourself

You should be so proud

You took the longer route to reach her

And that’s ok

Don’t give the people time to warm up to this you

I think them gasping is worth hearing

The stares are entertaining

You are the moment

Seize and command

Wherever your feet land

Remain insatiable
